
CHICOPEE – Shirley M. (Boisvert) Picard, 87, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on July 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Napoleon Conrad Boisvert and Cora (Provost) Boisvert. She was raised in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was an Inspector at the Moore Drop Forge in Springfield but was most proud of her position as the first Crossing Guard for Bellamy Middle School in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. In her quiet time, she enjoyed quilting and baking and will be remembered for her delicious chocolate cream pies. Most of all, she was a loving mother, Granny, and sister who always put her family first and was their “Super Hero”. She leaves her three loving and devoted children, Robert H. Picard, Jr. and his wife, Debra, of South Hadley, and Carol Ann McCarthy and her husband, James and Michele M. St. Germain, all of Chicopee; her four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Picard, Lauren Picard, Christopher Piquette and his wife, Christie, and Melissa St. Germain Martel and her husband, Robert Martel; her three cherished great grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Colin Piquette, Charlotte Piquette, and Lillian Martel; her two dear sisters, Lorraine B. Justice and Joyce C. A. Boisvert, both of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving son in law, William E. St. Germain who was Called Home on September 13, 1986; her dear brother in law, James D. Justice who was Called Home on June 12, 2005; her longtime companion, Donald P. Avera who was Called Home on December 15, 1996; and her former husband, Robert H. Picard who was Called Home in July 26, 2010. Her Funeral will be held on Monday morning, March 14, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Funeral Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Please note that masks are requested by her family.
