Autta Mae Richards Hand, 92, of Tifton died Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Frank Morris will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Kerry Underwood, Kirby Underwood, Kenny Hawkins, Don Marchant and Freddy Walker will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson.
Ms. Hand was born on February 19, 1914 in Tifton and was the daughter of Hamilton J. Richards and Margaret Cantrell Richards, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Hand; a son; several brothers and sisters and a granddaughter. She was retired from food service with the Tift County Board of Education and was a member of Vanceville Congregational Christian Church.
Ms. Hand is survived by one son, Joel Hand of Omega; one daughter-in-law, Paige Hand; four grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Faye Hand, Anita Hand, Celeste and Jeff Leach, and Kevin and Dorothea Hand; two great grandchildren, Tony Sims and Kaitlyn Hand; and a special friend and caregiver, Connie Caruthers.
