Vera Cele Barrett, 92, of Tifton, died Friday, April 28, 2006 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Larry Layfield will officiate with burial to follow at Hickory Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Jamie Yawn, Russ Griffin, Michael Marchant, Brent Justice, Chris Miller and Ryan Griffin will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Barrett was born on February 2, 1914 in Marion County and was the daughter of Arthur Tom Isom and Annie Anthony Isom, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Jefferson Barrett and a great grandchild, Chastity Willis. She was a farmer's wife and a member of New River Baptist Church.
Ms. Barrett is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Malloy Denby of Monticello, Florida; two grandchildren, Ronnie Yawn of Tifton and Cheryl Willis of Tifton; four great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
