Obituary

Howard L. Huempfner passed away peacefully on Friday, March 4, two weeks before his 83rd birthday.

Howard retired and moved to the Villages at Oak Hill in Franklin MA from Long Island 15 years ago. He grew up in Queens, NY and made his home in Syosset NY for 39 years.

He joined the Air Force at age 17, proudly served four years and then served in the Air National Guard.

During his youth, Howard spent many summers at his uncle’s farm in Connecticut and loved to tell of his experiences there. He earned his spend money by raising tropical fish and with a large paper route.
Howard owned businesses based in Ridgewood, NY.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, gardening and was legendary for trivia recall. He could fix or build anything.

He loved travelling the world, was conversant in three languages having visited five continents, but returned each summer to Point Sebago, ME to spend a week with his growing family.

Howard is survived by his wife, Linda (Poole), his daughter, Lara Huempfner of Walpole, MA, his son Brian and his wife Ursula Kominski of Franklin, daughter-in-law Suzanne Frare Huempfner of Glastonbury, CT and six grandchildren: Karissa and Alexandra Della Valle of Walpole, Brendan and Callum Huempfner of Franklin and Nicholas and Sean Huempfner of Glastonbury, CT.

He was predeceased by his eldest son John in 2020.

Howard is also survived by in-laws Lois and Michael Jacobs and nieces Kerry LeBlanc and Kimberly Bernazzani as well as his older brother, Ronald, of Aurora, CO.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Wednesday March 9th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 4-7PM.

A private family service will follow at 7PM.

Interment will be held privately.
