Claire Harding-McGrath (92) of Franklin, passed away on February 28, 2022 at the Blaire House in Milford, MA from complications due to congestive heart failure. She was born on January 29, 1930 in Framingham, MA, the daughter of the late Austin T. Moran and Marion A. McGuire.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert McGrath, sister Lillian Clopeck, and sister Maureen Ferrari. She is survived by her brother Austin T. Moran of Cumberland, RI. Claire was the devoted mother to her six children: Kathleen McGrane (Bill Wrench) of Potomac, MD; Richard Harding (Shelli) of Milford, MA; Paul Harding (Rosario) of Delray Beach, FL; Sheila Buckland (Thomas) of Old Orchard Beach, ME; Maureen Harding of S. Grafton, MA; and Grant Harding (Maura Murphy) of Franklin, MA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Brian Buckland, Jameson McGrane, Jessie Harding, Edward, Bernadette and Keven Harding and Anna and Evan Bertrand.
Claire attended St. Mary’s High School in Milford, MA and graduated from the nursing program at the Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Metro West Medical Center for 35 years.
Claire volunteered for the Red Cross drawing blood for many years, was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and taught CCD. She was a member of St. Pius Women’s Club and the Yarmouth Garden Club. She loved playing tennis throughout her life and golfing at the Bass River Golf Club. She was an avid reader and bridge player, loved the ocean and always managed to claim the largest lobster at the annual family 4th of July celebration. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Visiting hours will be at Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Franklin, MA on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Saturday March 5, 2022 at St. Mary’s Church 130 South St. Wrentham, MA.
