Obituary

THOMPSON, CT – Bernard R. “Bernie” Tycz, 83, died Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in Harrington Healthcare at Hubbard after a short illness. His wife of 46 years, Nancy M. (Motyka) Tycz, died in 2008.

He leaves 2 sons, John B. Tycz of Thompson and Paul B. Tycz of Charlton; 2 grandchildren, Brayden and Baylee Tycz; a brother, Thomas S. Tycz and his wife Mary of Falls Church, VA; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his infant son James B. Tycz and by his brother Daniel R. Tycz.

He was born on August 8, 1938 in Webster, MA, a son of Stephen A. and Rose A. (Jolda) Tycz and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1956. He then earned an Associate Degree in Engineering from Wentworth Institute.

He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era.

Mr. Tycz was an electrical engineer for Tyco Corporation in Hartford for 6 years. He owned and operated Little Bits Company in North Grosvenordale until recently.

He enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, playing cards, horse racing, golf and watching classic movies.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, March 5, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster, with military honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:15 AM Saturday in the funeral home, prior to the Mass.
