Obituary

GREENFIELD – Bernard J. Chartier, Jr., 67, of Greenfield, was Called Home on Monday, February 28, 2022. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on June 5, 1954, a beloved son of the late Bernard J. Chartier and Flora B. “Flo” (Demers) Wright. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and had lived in Jaffrey, Vermont for many years before moving to Greenfield. He was employed as a Maintenance Man at Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching television, cooking and eating a nice meal with a good glass of wine, playing the guitar with his band and riding his horse. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his two loving sisters, Sandra A. Krassler and her husband, Karl, and Bonnie M. Landry, all of Chicopee; his cherished nephew, Dale Landry of Chicopee; his two cherished nieces, Dawn Theroux and her husband, Brian, of Chicopee and Megan Landry of Springfield; and his many dear extended family members and friends. His family will receive friends on Monday, March 7, 2022 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. Celebration of Life Service at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Masks are recommended for his services. His burial will be private.
