Obituary

FISKDALE – Rev. Jerome A. Lively, A.A., 57, died Sunday, February 27, 2022 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge after an illness.

Besides his Assumptionist family, he leaves 7 siblings, Jonathan Lively, Veronica Smead, Hanna Lively, Timothy Lively, Daniel Lively, Martha Lively and Christopher Lively; and many nephews and nieces.

He was born on January 20, 1965 in Greenfield, a son of Frederic and Patricia (Godbois) Lively. He was a 1984 graduate of The Academy at Charlemont in Charlemont and graduated from Saint John’s Seminary College in Brighton in 1989 and then from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge in 1999. He also pursued advanced studies in Rome.

He made his religious profession on March 4, 1995 and was ordained to the priesthood on May 12, 2002 by Bishop Daniel P. Reilly.

Father Jerome taught theology at Assumption College now Assumption University from 2002 to 2019. He then was named local superior and was the Director of Faith Formation at Saint Anne-St. Patrick Parish until the present time.

His funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 4, in the Saint Joachim Chapel at Saint Anne/Saint Patrick Parish, 16 Church Street, with the Very Reverend Dennis M. Gallagher, A.A., Provincial of the North American Province, as the principal celebrant. Burial will be in Saint Anne’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 3, in the chapel followed by a vigil service at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Alex Castro, A.A. as the presider. Donations in his name may be made to the Assumptionist Retirement Fund, 330 Market Street, Brighton, MA 02135. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
