Obituary

Sister Eleanor Shaughnessy (formerly known as Sister M. Lenora), 90, a Sister of Mercy
for 72 years, died April 28, 2006 at the Warde Health Center in Windham, New Hampshire. A native of North Walpole, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of Francis and Mary (Gallagher) Shaughnessy.

Sister Eleanor received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Mt. St.
Mary College in Hooksett, N.H., and did further study in mathematics at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Sister Eleanor taught for many years in elementary schools in New Hampshire, including
Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St. Raphael Schools in Manchester; Sacred Heart School in Lebanon; and St. Joseph School in Keene. For 23 years she taught mathematics at Mt. St. Mary College in Hooksett. After the college closed in 1978, she taught computer classes at St. Mary School in Claremont. She was on the staff of St. Patrick School in Jaffrey from 1989 until her retirement in 2000.

Family members include two sisters, Frances Shaughnessy and Mary Shaughnessy, both
of North Walpole, New Hampshire; a brother, James Shaughnessy, of Sudbury, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her brother Edward Shaughnessy, who died March 28, 2006.

Friends may call at the Sisters of Mercy Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road,
Windham, New Hampshire, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2006. A prayer service will be held in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Sisters of Mercy in Windham at 7 p.m. on May 2 . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Bedford, N.H.
