Obituary

Charles Philip Morton II, born May 28, 1946, in Norwalk CT, passed away peacefully at age 75 on Feb 25, 2022, at home with his fiancé Annie (Jordan) Appling, in North Truro, Mass.

He is survived by Annie and his brothers, Paul and Peter Morton, sister-in-law Jill, nieces Kirstin, Sydney and Kayla, nephew Aidan—and cousins Jim, Judy, and Jane Scribner. He is preceded by his loving parents Charles and Mary of New Canaan, CT.

Phil was beloved and called family by many friends, lodge brothers, and other loved ones.

Phil was a graduate of New Canaan High School class of 1965 and Norwalk Community College. He was a dedicated police officer with the Town of New Canaan for 30 years.

Through his generous heart and commitment to service-Phil was a member and held many leadership positions over decades in the Masonic Lodges of New Canaan, CT and Provincetown and Wellfleet, MA.

Once retired, Phil fulfilled his dream of moving from New Canaan to Cape Cod full-time, after spending every summer there from the time he was born. His dear friends from near and far gathered there to join him boating, fishing, staying at Day’s Cottages, tasting his delicious Kale Soup, and enjoying their annual antics. To this day, he was a big part of the historic Day’s Cottages community.

He was the ultimate tour guide, seafood connoisseur, and a man of many talents, including photography. The first person most people would call in a time of need. Always an adventure seeker, Phil’s travels took him to Ireland, Australia, Portugal, and to visit friends around the country.

He taught us all how to enjoy life, what it means to be generous, how to live a life of service, and the true meaning of friendship and brotherhood.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, March 4, 2022, at the Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown.
