Effie Youghn Purvis, 90, of Washington, Georgia, formerly of Tifton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Ms. Purvis will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Brian Rodriguez, Rusty Mobley, Ryan Mobley, Joe Phillips, Joseph Phillips Jr. and Jerry Youghn will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 13, 1931, in Ocilla, Ms. Purvis was the daughter of the late Onnie Youghn and Dora Richardson Youghn. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Carlton Mobley; one son, Billy Wayne Mobley; one brother, Doc Youghn and three sisters, Naomi Harper, Barbara Ross and Lora Harper. Before retiring, she was a winder at Forstman Industries in Tifton and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Washington, Georgia.
Ms. Purvis is survived by one daughter, Cindy Mobley Gillespie and her husband, Larry; one brother, Eugene Youghn of Ocilla; three grandchildren and their spouses, Rusty and Angie Mobley, Mitzi and Joe Phillips and Jennifer and Brian Rodriguez; and four great-grandchildren.
