Ruth Olivia (Hambelton) Spillane of Andover, beloved wife of the late Timothy Joseph Spillane, died at the Caritas Holy Family Hospital in Methuen on Sunday, April 2, 2006. She was 85 years old.
Born in Everett, Massachusetts, on December 15, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Herbert C. and Margaret (Day) Hambelton. Mrs. Spillane was an active member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, serving as the priest's rectory caretaker for many years. She was a true artisan, baker and pastry cook, even baking wedding cakes for many people. Ruth also baked for Hay Scales Exchange in North Andover. She was also a lover of music and her most loving attention was alway's given to her family and home.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Timothy J. Spillane, Sr., former Board of Examiner's for the Boston School Department. She will be sorely missed by her loving children, Robert V. and his wife Monika C. Spillane of Salem, New Hampshire, Stephen A., PHD, and his wife Anne E. Spillane of Centerville, Margaret S. and her husband Carlos A. Bonilla of East Derry, New Hampshire and David M. Spillane of Andover; daughter-in-law, Elayne Spillane of Westwood; son-in-law, Leland Keaten of Lowell; brother Alfred G. Hambelton, Sr. of Napel, FL and 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was als the mother of the late Timothy J. Spillane, JR., Richard C. Spillane and Virginia S. Keaten and sister of the late Herbert C. and Barbara L. Hambelton.
Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Haggett's Pond Road, Andover, Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 10:30 AM. Many reltaives and friends attended. Calling hours were in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Tuesday, April 4, 2006, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
