Charlotte (Lomba) Baptista, 91, of New Bedford, died April 26, 2006 quietly at home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Augusto Baptista.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Louisa (Pereira) Lomba, she lived in New Bedford all of her life. She devoted her life to caring and nuturing her family. That was her greatest enjoyment and something that she took great pride in doing.
Survivors include four daughters, Anita Mendes, Diane Hero and Helen "Penny" Silva, and her husband Milton, all of New Bedford, and Nancy Ramos of Dartmouth; a sister, Beatrice Silva of New Bedford; two nephews, Richard and Robert Silva; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was the grandmother of the late Cheryl Mendes.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
