QUIRK, Dorothy “Doss” Ann (Hand) – Of Natick, formerly of Needham, passed peacefully on February, 2 at age 83 surrounded by her adoring family. Doss was the beloved wife of the late John F. Quirk for 50 years. She was the daughter of Dr. Francis J. and Dorothy Irene (Daly) Hand. Loving mother of 6 children: John Quirk and his wife Audrey Korsgaard, Columbia, SC, Timothy Quirk and his wife Jeanne (McNally) of Dedham, Kathleen Quirk and her husband Michael Pasciak of Needham, Patricia Foley and her husband Tim Foley of Natick, Kevin Quirk and his wife Karen (Reilly) of Natick and Brian Quirk and his wife Ashley (Donoghue) of Westwood. Doss leaves behind her dear sister Margaret Elizabeth “Libby” Miller of Framingham and was predeceased by her siblings Dr. David Hand of Sherborn, Ellen Mastromatteo of Marblehead, and Timothy Hand of Jessup, Maryland. Doss was a loving and devoted grandmother to Lucy, Johnny, Tommy, Erin, Colleen, Jack, Patrick, Ginger and Will.
A graduate of Central High School, Manchester, NH in 1956, Boston College School of Nursing, 1960. She retired in 2010 after a 50-year career in nursing, much of that spent at Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham. A generous and welcoming host and her home was always open to all. She was happiest when surrounded by family, loved Irish music and singing around the piano with friends and family.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, Monday, Feb. 7 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Needham, at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday Feb. 6 from 3-7 PM. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
