William John Wood, 88, of Ty Ty, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Charles Nichols will officiate with burial to follow in Poulan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Driggers, Patrick Warren, B. J. Warren, Wayne Warren, Walter Sullivan, Jerry Sullivan and Rickey Hill. Brad Sullivan will be an honorary pallbearer.
Mr. Wood was born December 3, 1917 in Worth County and was the son of Benjamin Wood and Mandy Douglas Wood, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linida Warren; three brothers; five sisters; and two grandsons. He was a retired farmer, a member of Unity Baptist Church and had lived in Tift and Worth Counties all of his life.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Lenora Gray Wood of Ty Ty; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William Wood of Ty Ty, Michael "Mickey" and Sharon Wood of Ty Ty and Bobby and Gail Wood of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Wallace Sullivan of Ty Ty, Janis and Robert Mullis of Ty Ty, and Billie and Frankie Goodman of Tifton; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
