Anna Stimpson passed away peacefully at home in Ledyard on Tuesday at the age of 97.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 20, 1909 to her late parents, John and Etta McNeece.
Anna lived most of her life in North Stonington and Ledyard. Anna and her husband, Clifford, owned dairy farms in the area throughout their lives. They retired to New Port Richey, Florida where they owned a ranch until the time of Clifford’s death and Anna’s return to the area. Anna loved animals and especially enjoyed training and working with horses and dogs.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Stimpson Sr.,, her parents, and sister Marian Nissen.
She is survived by her sons Clifford Stimpson Jr. with whom she made her home, and Thomas F. Main (Grace Avery) of Ledyard, her daughter Mabel Ann Stimpson of Monroe, OH, and grandchildren, Thomas Main, Kevin (Dawn) Main, Sandra (Dave) Pasieka and Michelle (Jack) Woods, and three great-grandchildren. Anna is also survived by special friends, Mary (Duffy) Cooper, Marge Gumbs, Betty Brown, and Dot Morey.
The family wishes to express gratitude to her special friends and the Ledyard Visiting Nurses for enriching her life.
Anna’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 12-1:45pm, followed by a service at 2pm. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
