Obituary

CHICOPEE – Casimir J. “Casey” Pasternak, 76, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was born in Ringenheim, Germany on December 21, 1945, a beloved son of the late Bronislaw Pasternak and Irena (Golec) Pasternak. At the age of 12, Casey moved with his family to Holyoke where he was raised and graduated from Holyoke Trade School. He later moved to Chicopee in 1977 where he lived the remainder of his life. Casey served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Canberra and attained the rank of Machinery Repairman Petty Officer Third Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon. Following his military service, Casey returned to the area and was employed for over 30 years as a Machinist for Ampad in Holyoke. He was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church, now Our Lady of the Cross in Holyoke where he also was a member of the Holy Name Society of the Church, served as Co-Chair of the annual Church bazaars and festivals and was a volunteer of their spaghetti suppers. During his leisure time, Casey enjoyed traveling and working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. An avid New England sports fan, he loved cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed attending his daughters and nephews and nieces sporting events and he continued that tradition attending his granddaughter Taylor’s dancing events and grandson Logan’s sporting events. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Lynn A. (Beauregard) Pasternak. They were married on September 25, 1976 and were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his two loving daughters, Cheryl A. Pasternak of Chicopee and Amy L. Walsh and her husband, Brian, of Ludlow; his two cherished grandchildren, Taylor and Logan Walsh; his brother, Henry Pasternak of Florence; his sister, Alicja Bechta of Holyoke; his sister-in-law, Alice Pasternak of Holyoke; his father-in-law, Arthur Beauregard of Holyoke; his two brothers-in-law, Gary Beauregard (Joanne) of South Hadley and Glenn Beauregard (Tara) of Granby. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Thaddeus and Andrzej Pasternak; and his mother in law, Nancy (Hamel) Beauregard. His funeral will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cross Church, 23 Sycamore Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, 152 Pittroff Avenue, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
