Obituary

Hilda (Thomassian) Tatosian, 87, of Medway died peacefully on January 21, 2022, in the care of her beloved daughter, Elise. She was the wife of the late Ralph A. Tatosian who died in 2016.

Born in Havana , Cuba, August 7, 1934, the daughter of the late Thomas and Maria (Kasab) Thomassian, Mrs. Tatosian came to the United States with her parents in 1941, settling in Jackson Heights, New York, where she was raised. Mrs. Tatosian had also lived in Piscataway, New Jersey and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for 43 years before moving to Medway in 2001.

After graduating from high school and upon her 18th birthday, Hilda was sworn in as a naturalized citizen of the United States.

She was a graduate of the Pratt Institute with an Associate’s Degree in Business. Upon graduating from Pratt, Hilda accepted a job with Benton & Boles Advertising Company as Executive Assistant to the head of Commercial Advertising. She later took on the role of Vice President and Comptroller for MacroFlex Corporation and Interface Dynamics; two aerospace companies she and her husband established.

Hilda was a woman of great faith and was involved in the church all her life. For nearly 60 years she served as Sunday School teacher and a helper in the church nursery, supported the church youth program, and lady’s Bible study.

Hilda enjoyed several hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader with an eclectic taste in literature. Hilda enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and loved to cook and bake. For many years she volunteered as a reading tutor to help elementary school students with reading comprehension deficit.

Hilda supported several charities, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society, and the V.A. Hilda had also been a Girl Scout Troop leader for many years, for which she received the USA Appreciation Pin for significant service above and beyond expectation.

She is survived by her daughter Elise Tatosian, son-in-law Joseph Scamardella of Medway, and is also survived by a large extended family.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway. Face masks are required at the funeral home.

Her graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Armenian Memorial Church, 32 Bigelow Ave. Watertown, MA at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Framingham ,MA 01701 or the Armenian Memorial Church, 32 Bigelow Ave. Watertown, MA 02472.
