Mateus Tavares (79) of Brockton died January 20th in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Da Conceicao Semedo Tavares of Brockton.
He was born in Praia, Santiago, Cabo Verde son of the late Augusto Tavares and Francisca Rodrigues. Mateus worked as a grocery store attendant and was a communicant of St. Edith Stein Church. He enjoyed playing and watching soccer, running, dancing, telling stories and socializing with family and friends.
In addition to his wife he is survived by 4 sons, Fernando Tavares and Antonio Carlos Tavares both of Portugal, Joao Da Grasa Tavares and Aires Elisio Tavares both of Cape Verde, 2 daughters, Rosalina Ribeiro of Brockton and Fernanda Tavares of Cape Verde, a brother Mulito Tavares of Cape Verde, a sister Donga Tavares of Cape Verde and many grandchildren.
Visitation in the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street Brockton Thursday January 27th at 9 am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E Main Street Brockton at 11:30 am. Burial to follow in Melrose Cemetery, 88 N Pearl Street Brockton.
