Obituary

Eleanor (Barry) Skippar 91, a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, passed away Tuesday January 18, with her loving daughter by her side singing her songs and lullabies.

She was the loving wife of the late Adolph Skippar.

She is survived by her sister Marilyn Gentile of Whitman, her brother Wayne Barry of Bridgewater, her son Gary Skippar and her daughter Cheryl Skippar and their spouses. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Born in the family home on Beulah Street in Whitman on August 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Ethel Barry.

Eleanor was a graduate of Whitman High School the “49ers” and was a member of the Glee Club.

Prior to her retirement she had worked as a printer for the former New England Art of Abington.

Her whole life was devoted to her family and friends. She loved hosting gatherings for all the holidays and card game nights. Her favorite place however was the cottage at Saquish and her passion was line dancing and performing on stage.

Eleanor is truly loved and will be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Monday January 24 from 2:00-4:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, and her funeral service on Tuesday January 25 at 9:15 AM from the Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John Church, East Bridgewater. Burial will follow in Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.
