Obituary

Jesse James “Buck” Hall, 82, of Irwin County, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Old Valley Grove Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. The family will greet friends at the graveside.

Buck was born December 29, 1939, in Atkinson County, Georgia, to the late Jesse & Mattie Cribb Hall. He was one of eleven children. He married the former Jerry Whitley of Irwin County in 1964 and lived the rest of his life here. Buck enjoyed life and gave his all to everything he did. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports. He liked to work with youth, coaching little league baseball and young men’s softball. He also worked tirelessly with the Irwin County Market Hog Show. He cherished his family and many good friends. To everyone that loved Buck, he loved each of you also. His family can proudly say they never heard Buck say a bad word about anybody.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jerry Whitley Hall of Irwin County; a daughter, Wanda & Chris McCranie of Ocilla; and a son, Craig & Nannette Hall of Perry along with her two sons, Dylan and Hayden. His two grandsons, that were his pride and joy, Dr. Hunter Hall of Detroit, Michigan and Dustin Hall of Perry; three sisters: Sally & Elmer Luke of Willacoochee, Shirley “Monk” & James Griner of Willacoochee, and Myrtice “Possum” Brown of Douglas; one brother, Chester & Verneil Hall of Willacoochee; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Myrtle Shook and Judy Luke and brothers: Henry Hall, Pete Hall, Mitchell Hall and Bud Hall.
