Gwendolyn Cottle Spurlin, 84, of Ty Ty passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Spurlin will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Jamie Spurlin, Adam Spurlin, Jake Spurlin, John Thomas Belflower, Josh Belflower and Austin Moretz will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 20, 1937, in Ty Ty, Mrs. Spurlin was the daughter of the late John Thomas Cottle and Jewel Sumner Cottle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Kenneth “Jimmy” Spurlin, Sr.; one brother, Donald Cottle; and one sister, Linda Warren. She was a homemaker and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Spurlin is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Connie Spurlin, Johnny and Dana Spurlin and Joe and Cindy Spurlin, all of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Belflower of Macon; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy Cottle and Frankie and Marianna Cottle, all of Ty Ty; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Geraldine Cottle of Ty Ty and Bonnie and Bobby Simpson of Tifton; brother-in-law, Bill Warren of Tifton; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Jamie and Marcy Spurlin, Julianne and Austin Moretz, Ashley Spurlin, Rachel Spurlin, Adam Spurlin, Brooke Spurlin, Jake Spurlin, John Thomas Belflower and Josh Belflower; and four great-grandchildren, Gatlin Spurlin, Spurlin Moretz, Parks Moretz and Ripken Moretz.
