VISITATION WILL NOW BE HELD ON SUNDAY, 2/6, from 1 to 4:00pm AT THE DINOTO FUNERAL HOME, 17 PEARL STREET, MYSTIC.)

It is with deep sadness we announce David A. Wells, 73 of Lisbon died at Lawrence and Memorial hospital on January 10,2022. He was born on December 6, 1948, to and predeceased by William Lester Wells and Marion Bliven Wells. He attended Robert E. Fitch High School and graduated in 1966. He then graduated in 1970 from Boston University with a degree in Journalism. He served in the Army National Guard. On November 8, 1980, he married the love of his life, K. Ann Wells at St. Joseph’s Church in Meriden, CT. They settled in Ledyard until moving to Gales Ferry where they lived for 30 years until moving to Lisbon in 2019. He worked at General Dynamics Electric Boat until he gave up his career due to poor health. He was an avid golfer, playing on his high school team and in golf league with friends and co-workers. He is survived by his brother Dana Wells (Sandy) of Huntsville, AL, loving wife, K. Ann Wells, beloved daughter Caitlin Ryan, and the lights of his life, Keagan and Jackson, his grandsons of Lisbon, CT.
He spent his free time being the worlds most supportive parent. He never missed a single afterschool lesson, equestrian show, or chorus concert. He was always ready for an “adventure” at Elm Ridge driving range, to Kartway for ice cream and car shows. He spent hours venturing into the woods for frog eggs and dinosaurs.
In 2014, David suffered a stroke which took away many of his freedoms including most of his speech. He worked hard to recover from something that might have taken his life. Every time David was faced with a challenge he fought for his family.
He was an amazing grandfather who loved his grandchildren fiercely. He will be remembered with pudding for breakfast, a cookie for snack, and then why not a piece of candy? He had a sweet tooth as big as his heart.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New England Hemophilia Association.
David's family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, February 4, from 3 to 7pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A celebration of his life will also be held at a later date to be announced.
