Obituary


Noel F. Doherty, a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of Marcia A. (Foster) Doherty. Born in Woburn, August 7, 1942, he grew up there and continued to live in Woburn for many years. He then resided in Reading for twenty-five years ultimately returning to his beloved hometown where he resided the last 25 years. He also spent part of his time in recent years at his residence in Naples, Florida.

Noel had a long and successful career in the printing industry and ended his tenure as the CEO of Goodway Graphics in Burlington MA. He was also very proud of his service in the United States Air Force spending some of his time there in Okinawa, Japan. In recent years Noel discovered the sport of Pickleball to which he devoted much of his time and energy. He worked as a private instructor to help many people to learn the sport he loved and was responsible for bringing the new public courts and programs to the City of Woburn. Noel was loved by all he encountered and will be remembered especially for his amazing personality, kindness and generosity.

In addition to his beloved wife Marcia, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon Tegan and her husband David of North Kingstown, RI, and son, Noel Eric Doherty and his wife Delphine of Woburn. He was the adoring grandfather to his four grandchildren; Noelle, Owen, Nathan and Drew. He is further survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Noel is sadly predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Madeleine Doherty, his sister Sheila Tompkins and his two brothers James and Thomas Doherty.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, Saturday, January 22nd, at 11:30 AM. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. www.T2T.org. A group dedicated to helping first responders and members of the military.
