Obituary

Mark Edward Vogel, 52, of Millis, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Milford Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Sacaton, Arizona on February 25, 1969, he was the son of Maureen E. (Kenney) Headd of Plainville.

Mark was a resident of Millis for the past year and formerly resided in Bellingham for 10 years. He grew up in Foxboro and graduated from Foxboro High School.

It is well known that Mark spent most of this time helping animals, which was his true passion. Most of his career, Mark spent as a senior animal rescue technician at the Animal Rescue League of Boston. He was also a contract agent for the International Fund for Animal Welfare.

Anyone who knew Mark would describe him as a gentle soul and a big kid at heart. Mark was a lifelong martial artist and member of Connor’s Mix Martial Art Group in Norwood. He was also a beloved wrestling coach at North Attleboro High School where he helped bring them their first State Championship. His love for music ranged from classical to death metal, he could talk endlessly about comics (especially Marvel), and what many don’t know was that he was an artist who loved sketching and drawing.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his son Michael Vogel of Salem, New Hampshire and his longtime friends, Billy and Carrie Acosta of Millis, with whom he resided.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Wednesday, January 19 from 4 – 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mark’s memory to the IFAW Animal Rescue @ IFAW.org
