Claude U. Dumas,72, of 99 1/2 Chestnut St., died Monday, Apr. 24
surrounded by his family after a 9 month battle with lung cancer. He leaves
his wife of 55 years, Barbara S. (Johnson) Dumas, a son Roger U. Dumas of
Spencer, a daughter Elaine E. and her husband Prescott C. Chipman, II of
No.Brookfield, a sister in law Mary Dumas of Sutton, 6 grand children of
which he was very proud of, Prescott Chipman, III, Emily Ledoux, Katharin
Rufus, Sarah Chipman, Mary Chipman and Benjamin Chipman, a great grand
daughter who was very special to him, Sadie Smith. He is predeceased by a
brother Donald Dumas and a sister Claire Hayes.
Mr. Dumas was a welder for 20 years at Spencer Products before retiring in
1999. He was born in Springfiled, the son of Napoleon U. and Barbara
(Miller) Dumas.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 1 at 1p.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN
& SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will follow in
Mary,Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. There are no calling hours. In
lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650
