BILLERICA: Ida T. (Myers) Reekie, age 100, a resident of Billerica for 60 years, died Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Life Care Center of the Merrimack Valley in Billerica.
She was the wife of Norman W. Reekie, who died April 6, 1973.
Born in Jeddore, Nova Scotia, Canada on July 23, 1905, she was the daughter of the late George and Irene(Warnell) Myers.
Mrs. Reekie was raised in Jeddore, Nova Scotia and attended local schools.
Following her marriage, she and her late husband moved to Wilmington, where she lived until moving to Billerica in 1946.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Billerica.
Mrs. Reekie dedicated her life to caring for her family.
She enjoyed painting, playing bingo, visiting yard sales and traveling with her friends at the Billerica Senior Center.
She is survived by one daughter; Joan I. Roddy and her husband Brendan of Billerica; three sons; Norman D. Reekie and his wife Joan of Pepperell, Ray W. Reekie and his wife Patricia of Westford and Charles G. Reekie and his wife Joanne of Tewksbury; one sister; Yvonne Palmer of Musgt. Harbor, Nova Scotia, Canada; her foster daughter; Gloria Spencer of Haverhill; six grandchildren; Susan, Michael, Charles, Edward, Raymond and Dawna; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reekie was the grandmother of the late Catherine Whitson.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 30th, from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1st, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the First Congregational Church of Billerica, 18 Andover Rd., Billerica, MA 01821 are requested.
