Obituary

Hugh Stanley Clark, Sr., 81, of New Bedford died July 30, 2002 at Blaire House of New Bedford after a brief illness.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth R. "Betty" (Gracia) Clark,and son of the late Alexander and Clara (Griffith) Clark.

Mr. Clark was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He was formerly employed as an auto mechanic at Manny's Shell Station in Fairhaven before becoming the owner and operator of Stan and Son's Getty Station at the corner of Dartmouth Street and Rockdale Avenue in New Bedford.

Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the United Social Club.

Survivors include 4 sons, Hugh S. Clark, Jr., of California, Michael L. Clark of Rhode Island, and John H. Clark and David M. Clark, both of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Charlene R. Clark-Salley, Deidre J.A. Clark and Ann E. Lipsett, all of New Bedford, and Kyle S. Perez of Houston, Texas; a brother, John Clark of New Bedford; 24 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Ulric "Rick" Clark, Phyllis Wills, Beryl "Pal" Clark, Barbara Clark and George Clark.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Friday, August 2, 2002 at 12 Noon.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 1, 2002, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment will be private.
