Obituary

Judith A. (Cavanaugh) Riley age 82, of Brockton, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John J. “Jack” Riley Jr.

Born May 17, 1939, in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Dorothy (Davidson) Cavanaugh.
She attended Brockton Schools, Graduating from Brockton High School with the Class of 1957.

In her younger years, Judith was a communicant of St. Colman’s Church, where she also taught CCD, was a member of the church choir, and a volunteer at the CYO dances.

After graduation, she worked at the First National Bank of Boston and became a member of the bowling team, competing in competition “bowl-off’s”.

She was later employed by Garvey Transport, retiring in 2009 after 26 years.

Judi enjoyed swimming in which she used to compete is swimming meets and water ballets, bowling, bingo, reading, cake decoration, and camping in New Hampshire with her grandchildren, and daughter Susan.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Riley Nowlin; grandchildren, Samantha and Nicole Nowlin, a sister, June Hill. And her husband, Kenneth of Bridgewater; a brother, Gerald Cavanaugh, of Cape Cod; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment in Melrose Cemetery will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judi’s name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
