Obituary

DUDLEY – William T. Boyd, 81, of 23 Ramshorn Road, died Sunday, April 23, at Hubbard Regional Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Marilyn R. (Blair) Boyd; a son and daughter-in-law, Thompson W. and Cynthia M. Boyd of Woodstock, CT; a sister, Marion K. Boyd of Whitinsville; a granddaughter, Lee M. Boyd; several nephews and nieces. His first wife of 23 years, Nancy (Trull) Boyd, died in 1974.

He was born in Worcester and raised in Whitinsville, the son of Thompson and Jane “Jean”
( Ferguson) Boyd. He graduated from Northbridge High School in 1942. He attended Dean Academy in Franklin before completing 3 years of study at Brown University in Providence. He moved to Dudley in 1958.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Third Army under General Patton.

Mr. Boyd was a purchasing agent for most of his life at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, retiring in 1986. Afterwards, he was a sexton for several years at his church.

He was an active member of the First Congregtaional Church of Dudley, serving as a deacon, trustee and on many other committees. He was a member of the Dudley-Charlton Regional School Committee from 1975 to 1981. He was a 25 year member of the Dudley Grange. He was long active in the Webster Sailing Association, and was once its commodore and treasurer.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 1:00 PM in the First Congregational Church, 135 Center Road. Burial will be in Corbin Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, in the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
