Obituary

MAYNARD: Lois Barbara (Dawson) Baker, 96, died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Life Care in Acton following a period of declining health.
She was born in Maynard on April 7, 1925 the daughter of the late Charles B. Dawson and Rachel H. (Cook) Dawson.
Lois was the beloved mother of Patricia A. Jome of Maynard, Paula M. Doyle of Maynard; Michael F. Baker of Deerfield Beach, FL and Dennis E. Baker of Billerica.
She was the sister of the late Constance Bartlett, Thelma Greenaway, Ronald Dawson and Bernard Dawson. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Lois spent her formative years in Maynard and was a longtime resident of Cochituate before returning to Maynard to be closer to her family. She graduated from Maynard High School with the Class of 1943.
While residing in Cochituate she was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church. She loved knitting, crocheting, painting, counted cross-stitch as well as creating gifts in stained glass. She also was extremely talented in the creation of porcelain dolls.
She retired after many years as the Head Cashier for Victory Market in Maynard. She was associated for several years with Digital in Maynard and for over 3 years was with Tobin Vending, as an event specialist for Digital.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Baker lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 3:00 pm at Maynard Golf Club, 50 Brown St, Maynard.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly suggests that memorial remembrances in Lois’ name be sent to local charities that benefit veterans.
