Obituary



Paxton – Roland J. Card “Rollie”, 60, of Paxton died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters after a courageous battle with brain cancer on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.

Roland is survived by his loving wife, Kathy (Barry) Card; two daughters, Nicole Card and LeeAnn Card both of Paxton; five brothers and sisters, Richard Card of Orlando, Florida, Gerald Card and his wife, Deborah of Texas, Belinda Keddy and Jeannie Daigle of Louisiana, Anita Walley of Baldwinville, Massachusetts and Ronald Card of Worcester and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Roland was born in Worcester, son of the late Richard Card and Louise (Snyder) Moody. He graduated from Burncoat High School in 1979 and then went on to receive an associate’s degree from Quinsigamond Community College. He then furthered his education by taking classes at Assumption College.

Roland worked for the past 16 years as Director of Distribution for Harrell’s Fertilizing Company and previously worked at the former Heald Machine Company.

Roland was known for his wit and laughter. Most considered him the life of the party. He was known to occasionally relax while drinking an IPA or a glass of Josh cabernet. He loved listening and dancing to music, particularly classic rock and country. He also enjoyed his weekly golf league with the members and friends at Kettle Brook Golf Club.

Roland coached for various soccer leagues for over 10 years during which time he was awarded the Mass Youth Soccer Coach of the Year Award in 2004. Most of all Roland loved spending time with his family and friends especially while camping and vacationing. He loved decorating for the holidays and his house was always the brightest on the street.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday January 5th, 2022 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at Saint Columba Church, 10 Richards Avenue Paxton. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery in Paxton. Calling hours are on Tuesday January 4th, from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester.
