Obituary

SOUTHBRIDGE: Francis E. (Skip) Johnson, Jr. formerly of Worcester, Leicester and Southbridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late Francis E., Sr. and Ada C. (Anderson) Johnson. He is predeceased by his sister Shirley L. Quillia and survived by his sister Eleanor Asadoorian. He is survived by Constance C. (Brassard), his loving wife of 61 years, his four children, Deborah J. and her husband Timothy MacMillan of North Oxford, Gary F. Johnson and his wife Joie of Fountain Inn, SC, Scott A. Johnson of North Oxford, and Melina A. and her husband Matthew McCarthy of Spencer. He leaves eight grandchildren, Julia and her husband Mike Haddick of Okatie, SC, Marc Johnson of Boulder, CO, Philip Johnson of Columbia, SC, Sarah, Ryan and Jessica McCarthy of Spencer, Natalie and Zachary Johnson of Mendon. He leaves a great grandchild Abe Luzon of Okatie, SC. He leaves many loving nieces and nephews. Francis graduated from South High School and later attended Worcester Junior College. He served honorably in the United States Navy, in the Pacific Region on the Island of Guam as a Radioman and then in San Diego aboard the USS AJAX and USS HECTOR. During this time he earned the Navy’s Good Conduct Medal. He worked for many years in the automotive repair business as owner and operator of Village Mobile in Worcester and later retired, as a certified technician, from Chabot Motors of Millbury. In his retirement years, he kept busy with part-time jobs. He enjoyed hot-rods and muscle cars, billiards and poker, crossword puzzles and telling jokes, but most of all he loved vacationing in Myrtle Beach with his beloved wife Connie along with his children and grandchildren. Francis was a good man with a good heart and will be greatly missed.
The funeral will be held on Monday, Jan 3 at 11 a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. The family suggests that masks be worn in the funeral home. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner Children's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield Ma 01104.
