Obituary

James Earl Davis, known to all as “Jim”, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 14, 2021
at the age of 61, after a long battle with many complex, debilitating health issues.

Jim, born on November 26, 1960, grew up in Concord, Massachusetts. He graduated Concord-Carlisle High School in 1979, and shortly after, joined the United States Coast Guard. Whether it was in the middle of the Arctic Ocean searching for icebergs or Puerto Rico catching drug smuggling boats, he was able to explore many parts of the world with the USCG. In 1991 he married Karen and moved to Buzzards Bay when the Coast Guard assigned him to Woods Hole, MA. Though Jim enjoyed his time in the military, his favorite role in life was being a father to his 3 children; Emily (29), Thomas (26) and Christopher (22), and raising them on Cape Cod.

There are countless fond memories of fishing, camping, sports events and digging for clams and oysters. Every Christmas up until Jim was physically unable, he would dress as Santa Claus and visit the local preschool to surprise the kids, which speaks to the kind of wonderful man he was. He was known for his improvisational skill in the kitchen as well, always making breakfast on the weekends for his family. Jim was a simple man who required very little to be content. Taking his golden retrievers Ruby and Duke for long walks or casting a line on the weekends were just a few things that made him smile. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his altruistic nature, and his unconditional love for his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife Karen, his three children Emily, Tommy and Chris, his parents, Dave and Nancy Davis of Stowe, MA and his siblings; Lynn Joachim and her husband Jeff of Concord, MA, Lori McGonagle and her husband Bill of Concord, MA, Jean Geraghty and her husband Jeff of Concord, MA, Sharon Fulone and her husband John of Masphee, MA and
Charles Davis of Dracut, MA. All of his extended family and longtime friends will miss him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with a 10 am Mass held at St
John’s the Evangelist in Pocasset followed by a burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. There will be a reception to follow, taking place at the Mezza Luna in Buzzards Bay.
