Alton Tucker "Buddy" Childs, 75, of Tifton, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with burial to follow in Oakridge Cemetery. Bob Tucker will present the eulogy. Pallbearers will be Fred Tucker, Derwent Langley, Charles Walker, Bill Tucker, Randy Sim Colemen, Guy Blasingame and James Laguardia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at Bowen-Donaldson.
Mr. Childs was born on June 8, 1930 in Tift County and was the son of Alton Childs and Elma Tucker Childs, both deceased. He served in the U. S. Air Force in Korea and was a retired automobile salesman. He promoted organ donations through speaking and sporting events.
Mr. Childs is survived by three sons, Alton Tucker Childs, Jr. of Orlando, Florida, Michael Calhoun Childs of Orlando, Florida and John Michael Childs of Tallahassee, Florida; one sister, Margie Coleman of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Childs, James Laguardia, Samantha Laguardia and Joseph Laguardia.
