Obituary

WORCESTER___George A. Brodeur, 83, of Goldthwaite Rd, died Thursday April 20 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. His first wife, Constance (MacDonell) Brodeur died in 1991.

He leaves two sons, Richard R. Brodeur and his wife Katherine of Holland and William W. Brodeur and his wife Debra of Margate, Fl, three grandchildren, John Brodeur, Amy Cserny and Kyle Brodeur, seven step children, thirteen step grandchildren and nephews and nieces. He also leaves his close companion, Stella Boucher, with whom he shared many happy moments. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marion Agnew of Spencer and Rita McRell of Clinton. He was born in Worcester, son of Wilfred and Angelina (Yula) Brodeur and lived here all his life.

Mr. Brodeur was a postal vending technician for the U.S. Postal Service in Worcester. He worked there thirty years before retiring in 1985. He was a disabled veteran having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Asiatic Pacific theater earning 13 Battle Stars. George was a member of St. Bernard’s Church, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, D.A.V. Chapter 4 Worcester, Grafton Hill Post 323 American Legion, West Boylston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6907, the Greendale Retired Men’s Club, the Froshinn Club, Adelphi Council Knights of Columbus, the A.A.R.P. and was a former member of the Elks. He was a graduate of Commerce High School.

The funeral will be held on Monday April 24 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday April 23 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
