Jeanette L. (Shurkus) Bertone 84, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Friday December 3, 2021 at Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation, following a long battle with ALZ/Dementia. She was the beloved wife of Charles E. “Charlie” Bertone, with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage.
Born January 17, 1937, in Norfolk, a daughter of the late William and Blanche (Vaivoda) Shurkus, she was a longtime resident of Franklin.
She was raised and educated in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School and Brooks Junior College. Jeanette was a travel agent and worked for the former Friendly Travel in Franklin, as well as other area agencies until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved reading and camping and traveling in their motorhome.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Cheryl Ann Dauley of Milford and Steven E. Bertone and his wife Ruth of Nebraska, and a sister Barbara A. Lori of Florida.
She was the sister of the late Ronald Shurkus.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Patrick Dauley, Ryan Dauley, Eric Bertone and Erin Bertone.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Tuesday December 14th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. at 10AM.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
Calling hours are Monday Dec. 13th from 4-7PM.
