Mario L. DiBenedetto, 75, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Wingate at Reading following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Antonetta “Ann” (DiStefano).
Born in Nocciano, Italy he came to America in 1960, setteling in the North End of Boston. In 1964 he married Ann and later moved to Medford. He was a retired leather cutter working for the Boston firm of Julius & Sons and later for Vanson Leathers of Stoughton and Fall River. He was devoted to his family and in particular his grandchildren. He enjoyed making wine and sharing it with his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his son Mario A. DiBenedetto and his wife Ellen of Reading and his two loving grandchildren Juliana and Michael. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews all of Italy.
Mario was predeceased by his brothers Eta, Domenico, Sabatino, and Americo DiBenedetto and his sister Assunta DiBenedetto all of Italy.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford on Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St. Medford at 11. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours are on Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
