Obituary

H. Barton "Bart" "Popper" Fuqua, 86, passed away peacefully at home on November 29, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Bart was born on February 15, 1935 in Terre Haute, the son of Lloyd and Lucille (Harris) Fuqua. He graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in Terre Haute and later attended Ivy Tech. He served in the US Army from 1957-59. He was a 40 year employee of the Anderson Herald Bulletin, retiring on December 31, 1999. Following his retirement, he worked at Walmart for five years assembling bicycles. Bart attended Madison Park Church of God and enjoyed woodworking. He was always kind, generous, well loved, and had a sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn (Ray) Speedy-Fuqua; two children, Lisa (fiance James Yates) Ballard of Alexandria and Tony (Heather) Fuqua of California; five grandchildren; Bethany (Mike) Ryan, Justin Richey, Brandon (Alisha) Richey, Aaron (Jorden Bair) Kress, Michael (Pearla) Spencer; nine great grandchildren; step-sister, Tonya Bollinger; four step-children, Andy Speedy, Dan Speedy, Lori Cundy, Dinah Hartley; step-daughter-in-law, Jen Speedy; 10 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.

Bart was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Sue Fuqua; his parents, his step-mother, June Fuqua; three brothers, Jim, Kenny and Dennis Fuqua; and step-sister, Judy; step-son Tim Speedy.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 6 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Shelly Stottlemyer officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Madison Park Church of God.
