Obituary

Beverly Ann (Wiltshire) Convery a longtime resident of Medford, beloved wife of 62 years to the late Thomas E. Convery passed away peacefully, she was 89. Beverly was the daughter of the late Henry & Catherine (Cotter) Wiltshire and stepdaughter to both the late Alice Keegan and Dorothy Parkin Wiltshire.

Beverly had many fond memories of growing up first on Curtis St in Somerville and then later Hancock St in Lexington. As a teen, Beverly worked at Camp Makaria in Nobleboro Maine. She would often recall those days as some of the happiest of her life. Bev met Tom while they were both attending Fitchburg Teacher’s College. Tom often described her as his ‘favorite redhead’. She left college to get married and they started a family. Together she and Tom had six children. Their son, Lawrence, died at birth. Beverly was a devoted Air Force wife for 25 years. They traveled to and lived in, many places. They spent 3 years in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Beverly took pride and joy in caring for her family and home. Bev went back to school in her 40’s and fulfilled her dream of getting her college degree with a major in English and a minor in Psychology. Bev worked at Lad and Lassie in Medford Square for many years, always outfitting her grandchildren in the latest fashions.

Beverly participated in a program called the Box Project. It was through this program that she met her “Mississippi family”. She developed a deep and lasting relationship with Ruby Woods and her children which lasted for over 25 years. Beverly volunteered at the St Francis Food Pantry for over 20 years. It was one of her greatest joys. Later in life, Beverly began attending Grace Episcopal Church in Medford where she made many friends. She was a devoted member and served the church in countless ways. A consummate reader, Beverly belonged to the Grace Church Book club and coordinated its meetings for many years.

An avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, Beverly rarely missed an episode; family knew not to call her between 7-8pm each night! Beverly especially loved her home at 171 Forest St and lived there for over 50 years. Although it was difficult to leave it, she found enjoyment living at Forestdale Park Assisted Living in Malden. She marveled at what a good place it was and how wonderful the staff were to her.

Beverly was a kind, gentle soul, accepting and loving towards all. She was also funny and quick witted and despite struggling with Alzheimer’s she could still play a competitive game of scrabble. She loved any and all word games and could also play a fierce game of double solitaire.

Beverly was the devoted mother of Thomas H. Convery of Westfield (MHS ’70), Timothy (MHS ’72) and his wife Sandra (DiMarino) of Canton, Dorothy Pirrello (MHS ‘74) and her husband Joseph (MHS ’74) of Groveland, Mark (MHS ’76) and his wife Sandra (Hart) of Tewksbury, the late Lawrence Convery, Katherine (Beth) Govoni (MHS 83) and her husband Scott Govoni (MHS 82) of Medford.

Devoted grandmother to Kay “Susie” (Pirrello) Milligan and her husband Craig of North Andover, Amy (Convery) Cicci and her husband Vinny of Abington, Christopher Pirrello of Groveland, Lauren Convery of Nashua NH, Kerri Convery of Newton, Sarah Govoni of Framingham, Emily (Govoni) Bouche and her husband, Robert of Dracut, Scott Govoni of Medford, Rebecca Govoni of Cambridge, and Thomas Govoni of Medford; great grandmother to Ava, Ella and Mia Cicci of Abington and Benjamin Milligan of North Andover.
