Obituary

Limington, Maine- Sheila Herrick Hubbard, aged 67, passed away in her home on November 27, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. Her husband, Doug Hubbard, preceded her in death by only seven weeks.

Born in Portland, Maine on March 13, 1954, to the late Arthur and Thelma (Cote) Herrick Jr. She was the only girl of seven children; from the very start her beauty, love, and strength shone brightly.

On March 4, 1973, Sheila married her loving husband. This year they celebrated their final anniversary, spending 48 years together. They loved to spend their time traveling, visiting their family as often as they could, and exploring the national parks.

After finishing cosmetology school, Sheila began and ran her own salon, Mainely Hair, watching it expand for over twenty years before selling. From there she assisted Doug in his electrical business and spent many years as a caregiver, where her compassion and selflessness were put on display.

Sheila was extremely faithful and active within the church, both in Maine and Ethiopia, Africa. She traveled to Africa multiple times in recent years to serve ‘A Heart For Korah,’ a ministry based in Ethiopia, where five of her grandchildren were born.

Better known as Nana to her twelve grandchildren, Sheila was a proud mother and an even prouder grandmother. Her two daughters both moved far from home but this never slowed her from visiting several times a year and attending all the major events in the lives of her family.

She was also preceded in death by four of her brothers: Raymond Johnson, Donald Johnson, Bruce Herrick, and Kevin Herrick. She is survived by her daughters- Kimberly (Hubbard) Rhine and husband Andrew Rhine, daughter Tisha (Hubbard) Alexander and husband Monte Alexander, brothers Craig (and wife Dianne) Herrick and Michael (and wife Roxanne) Herrick, grandchildren: Elijah, Douglas, & Samuel Rhine, Abigail (Rhine) Cornelius and husband Caleb Cornelius, Isaac, John, Josiah, David, Jude, Hannah, Chloe, & Simeon Alexander, and great-granddaughter Drew Ann Cornelius.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 4, at 11 a.m. at the East Limington Baptist Church, 404 Sokokis Ave., Limington. Arrangements are by Poitras, Neal and York Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com
