PORTLAND- Joseph “Joey D.” Michael DiVico, age 75, passed away on November 25, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine.
Joey was born to the late James and Mary DiVico on November 8, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of three children. Joey graduated from Clyde Savannah High School in Clyde, New York with the class of 1965. On May 29, 1971 he was united in marriage to his beloved wife- Jo(Cinelli), and they resided in Syracuse, New York for nearly 50 years before relocating to Portland, Maine.
Joey was proudly employed as a Structural Ironworker for 40 years. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworker’s and was a member of the Italian Heritage Center of Portland, Maine.
Joey was renown for his love of horse racing since childhood and went on to own his own thoroughbreds with a focus on holistic and humane treatment, training and racing. Joey was a devoted family man and loyal friend who nurtured and embraced all with humor, compassion and Italian cooking. A talented athlete, Joey loved watching sports and was a faithful NY Giants fan on most days. Notably, the Sunday after his passing the Giants beat the Eagles 13-7, and his family is certain he was dancing in heaven over that.
He is predeceased by his brother- James DiVico and nephew- James DiVico Jr.
Joey is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years- Jo DiVico; daughter- Taylor (Shane); son- Evan (Grenmarie); two loving granddaughters- Yanamarie and Fiametta; brother- Richard (Patricia); extended family and lifelong friends.
