Obituary

Evelyn LaVerne Schell, 101, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021 in Prosser. She was born on July 18, 1920 to Joseph and Silvia (Kennedy) Heming in Winner, South Dakota where she was raised, educated and graduated. Evelyn grew up in a rural area of Winner along with three brothers and three sisters. She moved from South Dakota to Virginia where she lived for two years until moving to the Yakima Valley, eventually settling in Prosser. Evelyn and Amil Schell were married on May 9, 1946 in Wapato, WA.
Over the year’s Evelyn worked as a waitress, retail clerk, seamstress and head baker for the Prosser School District. She enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing, hunting and quilting. Evelyn was member of The Grace Brethren Church in Grandview and later became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Prosser. She enjoyed studying the Bible and belonged to several Bible study groups. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Evelyn was survived by her four children, Betty Nester Kuhlers, Ron Nester, Dave Schell and Sandra Schell LilienKamp; many grandchildren, great- grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren; and brothers, Pete Heming and Ed Heming.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amil Schell; great-grandson, Tanner Nester; son-in-law, Gene Lilienkamp; grandson, Steven Powell; three sisters and one brother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Prosser. Concluding Services and Burial will follow at The Prosser Cemetery.
