Bridgewater- Robert E. Roque, 71, of Bridgewater died unexpectedly Friday at his home.
Born Nov. 22, 1934, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Silva) Roque.
Mr. Roque was a graduate of Bridgewater High School and was a lifelong resident of Bridgewater.
After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy with his twin brother Richard and served on the USS Ranger from 1957-1959.
Mr. Roque worked at the Carver Cotton Gin Works in East Bridgewater for a short time.
In 1962, he went to work for Joseph J. Braga Tobacco Co. in West Bridgewater, where he was in charge of shipping and handling.
Mr. Roque semi-retired in 2000.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Virginia Duarte, Emily Stone, Madeline Moore, Adeline Ziino, Clement, his twin Richard, all of Bridgewater, and Albertina Kempf of Easton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also brother of the late Ann Abati, Mary Braga, Joseph Roque and John Roque Jr.
His funeral will be held from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday at 8:15 am, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 9 am. Burial will be in St. Tomas Aquinas Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
