Obituary



Lois E. (Peluso) DeCosta, age 88, of Brockton, died peacefully on November 6, 2021 at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. Lois was the loving wife of the late Robert F. DeCosta. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Lachimia) Peluso.

A lifelong resident of Brockton, Lois was a small business owner for over 50 years. In 1972, she and her sister Bobbie opened The Looking Glass Beauty Salon where she worked until the late 1980’s. She then joined her late daughter, Bonnie, at California Styles until her recent retirement in October 2020 at the age of 87. Lois was lovingly known as the “Legend,” who enjoyed watching classic films and recreating old Hollywood hairstyles.

Lois was always the life of the party, having fun and laughing. Time spent with her grandchildren was the most precious time for her.

Lois was the mother of Laurie DeCosta Grady and her husband Gene of East Bridgewater and the late Bonnie DeCosta and grandmother of Mathew Brown, Rachel Echeverz and Zachary Grady. She was the sister of Roberta “Bobbie” Avitabile of Raynham, Brenda Peluso of West Bridgewater, the late Phyllis Patricelli, Rosemary Morse, Anthony Peluso and Gary Joy. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday, November 10, from 5-8pm. Masks will be appreciated during visitation. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:45am for a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, E. Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will be held at a later date in Melrose Cemetery.
