WORCESTER____Eleonora (Barszcz) Galanek, 90, of Worcester, died peacefully with family at her side in the comfort of her home on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Her husband of 66 years, Stanislaw Galanek died in 2014.
Mrs. Galanek leaves two sons, Witold Galanek and his wife Celina of Poland and Mark Galanek and his wife Christina of Holden; three daughters, Zophia Bembenek of Sutton; Elizabeth Galanek of Worcester and Hanna Ciecierska and her husband, Jan of Poland, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by two sons, Franciszek Galanek and Ryszard Galanek. Eleonora was born in Zbojna, Poland a daughter of the late Franciszek Barszcz and Irena (Gorzoch) and has lived here since 1986.
Mrs. Galanek was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and sang in the Parish Choir. Eleonora loved being with her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and decorating. A skilled seamstress, she also enjoyed making clothes for her children and grandchildren.
The funeral will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
