Obituary

HOLLIS – Norman Albert DesRochers 72, passed away on November 4, 2021, at his home with his family by his side, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Biddeford, Maine on May 8, 1949, son of the late Oneil and Florence DesRochers. After graduating from Biddeford High School, Norman went on to attend at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute where he earned a degree in Electrical, Electronic and Communications Engineering Technology. He then went on to work for Unum, where he worked until retirement. Norman then went on to work for Sappi where he worked until retirement again. After his retirement, Norman went to work doing something he truly enjoyed, working as a gun specialist in the Gun Library of Cabela’s Store. He was an avid gun collector.
Norman enjoyed being in nature and spent a lot of his time fishing and hunting. Even in his last few months, he made a trip up north for a Moose hunting trip in which he did in fact get a moose. He loved his trips to camp where he spent time with his closest friends of 60 years. He enjoyed relaxing at home watching his birds. He had many lasting friendships that meant the world to him.
Norman was an amazing cook and loved spending time building delicious meals for his family and friends. His home was known as the “Hollis Hilltop Restaurant”. One of his signature meals was his homemade Macaroni and cheese, a favorite for many. Anyone who was invited for dinner knew not to miss out because it was going to be an amazing experience. He had a huge heart and spent time over the years taking in people that needed a bit of help and guiding them through their tough times, while never asking for anything in return.
He is predeceased by his brother Raymond DesRochers who passed away in 1969.
Norman is survived by his brother Roger DesRochers and wife Betty of Limerick and their 3 daughters, Christine DesRochers of Kingston NH, Melissa Tardif of Saco, ME and Katherine Hall of Farmington ME; domestic partner Tracy Nelson and her daughter Haley Nelson of Hollis, ME; Adopted daughter Teresa Verrill of Buxton, ME
