Obituary

In North Dighton, November 3, 2021 Michael O. “Bones” Bonenfant loving husband of Charlene (Brezinski) Bonenfant died after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma in his home surrounded by his family at the age of 60. Born in Taunton, Michael was the son of the late Omer and Edna (Brown) Bonenfant. He was a graduate of Taunton High School class of 1979 and he received two associates degrees one from Massasoit Community College in criminal justice and the other at New England Institute of Technology in Architecture. He was a retired Taunton Police Detective retiring in 2018 with thirty years service serving as a Community Police Officer assigned to the Whittenton area and hosted “Roll Call” on the local cable TV network, before retiring as the Evidence Officer. Detective Bonenfant was a founding member of the Community Crisis Intervention Team and was also an Instructor on the Taunton Police Motorcycle Unit. He was the president of the home owners association for Exploria Resorts in FL and also on the Supervisory Committee for the Taunton Federal Union. Before the police department Michael and his brother Duff owned and operated their own construction Company. Michael enjoyed vacationing in New Smyrna Beach Florida, going on cruises, drinking his coffee, eating chocolate, dining out on Federal Hill, going to the PPAC and especially riding his Harley. He is survived by his former wife Janine and thier children Rachel Bonenfant of Waltham, Amanda Marvel and her husband Jonathan of East Taunton, Andrew Bonenfant and his fiancée Shelby of Taunton and Alyssa Bonenfant and her companion Chris of New Bedford. Grandfather of Sylvie and Rhys Marvel both of East Taunton. Brother of Maurice “Duff” Bonenfant and his wife Joyce of SC, Gilbert W. Bonenfant and his wife Stephanie of SC, Julia M. Gannon and her husband Joseph of Berkley and the late Carol A. Rec and her husband Roger of Texas. Son-in-law of Frances Brezinski of No Dighton. Brother –in-law of Christina Basile and her husband Joseph and Buster Brezinski and his wife Pam of NC. His two best friends Shawn Mulhern, Steven Crowinshield and his cats Koopurr, Klaryce, Koal and the late Karsen. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Sunday November 7th from 4-7 PM. A Mass will be held at St Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton on Monday at 9 AM. Interment St Francis Cemetery in Taunton.
