Obituary

Mr. Wallace Lee Harris McCray, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved Husband of Annie M (Lide) McCray, passed away surrounded by his family at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on Friday afternoon, October 29, 2021. He was 78 years old.

Wallace was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the beloved son of Nathan Tartt and Mary E. McCray. Wallace graduated from Hooper City High School in Alabama and had a short stint playing for the now famous Birmingham Black Barons Baseball Team. After which he entered the U.S. Army and served as a sargent in the 101st Airborne Division for 3 years before being discharged and beginning employment with Polaroid and then by the US Postal Service. In his spare time, Wallace loved to go fishing. He was a very devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

Besides his beloved Wife, Annie, Wallace is survived by his loving children; Kimberly Y. McCray of Medford, Wallace L. McCray, Jr. of Medford and Jonathan M. and his wife Kiyana R. McCray of New Bedford, grandchildren; Melida, Kimisa, Jovaun, Jasmyn, Javian and Cailee, great-grandson, Yannis and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Nathan, Joe and Nettie.
