Obituary

David M. Clauretie, age 88, of Brockton passed away on November 2, 2021 at Good Samaritan Medical Center following a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. David was the son of the late David B. and Mary H. (Kruger) Clauretie.

David graduated from Brockton High School, class of 1951, and Boston University, class of 1955. While attending Boston University, he was a member of the ROTC. Following graduation he joined the US Marine Corps and trained at Quantico, Virginia. David’s time in the Marine Corps took him to many different countries, one of the last being Vietnam where he was exposed to Agent Orange.

In Taiwan he served as a Communications Advisor to the Chinese Marine Corps. While in Vietnam David received the Naval Commendation with a combat “V” and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service. After 21 years in the Marine Corps, David worked at Probate Court in Brockton for 24 years.

David loved watching sports on television. Inspired by his father who used to be an umpire, he especially enjoyed baseball and the Boston Red Sox.

He also loved going to the YMCA every day for as long as he was able. Perhaps because of his military training, he was one of the first ones there every morning.

Our family would especially like to thank those that helped us out these past 19 months: Marty Feroli, Matt George, George Cordeiro, Mike Livingston, Christine and Mark Peterson and Sue Cohen.

We also thank all our friends for their support. We will miss him more than anyone knows; he was always there for us.

David is survived by his sister Alice Mansour and her husband Thomas, his niece Laura-Jean Mansour, as well as his niece Denise Mansour Gilio and her son Jonathan Gilio.

Visitation will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton Sunday November 7, from 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 9am for a funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
